Go take a look at this website: http://www.budgettravel.com/contest/nominate-15-places-kids-should-see-before-15,10/
Budget Travel wants you to nominate 15 places in America that kids must visit. These include historical sites, monuments, national parks, etc. What’s currently number one with an incredibly overwhelming 698 votes? The Creation Museum in Kentucky.
In contrast, NASA has 96 votes.
I find this extremely disturbing, that a HUGE percentage of voters (assuming it’s not fixed by online church groups) recommend that people take CHILDREN to a FAKE MUSEUM to learn LIES so that their fairytales can be backed up with ‘evidence’.
A country filled with such an amazing history, wonderful landscapes and truly scientific locations is losing it’s reputation to these complete idiots. Humans did not ride on the back of dinosaurs. A 400-year-old man did not look after samples of the world’s species on a boat during a flood. If you want to believe it, then fine. But don’t indoctrinate young minds. These could be future scientists, leading the world with cures for cancer or exploring the solar system. But instead, another generation will grow believing in these fairytales. It disgusts me. Might as well take them to Disneyland.
But do go take a look at the comments though. Once you get past the humorous and frustrating bullshit, like “If only I had somewhere like this as a child, I would have had all the answers to my questions” (because apparently you don’t get that with a real science museum where they give facts), you can start to see a massive influx of anti-creationism comment reflecting the same outrage that I have displayed here.
Come on, people. Let’s save science. Let’s embrace these heavily-supported theories about our history. Let’s learn the best stories of all, the true ones. And most of all, let’s show that America is a fascinating country beyond all the bullshit.
Go vote for something real.
Edit: The US Space and Rocket Center is now number one. There are a few attractions that are getting more votes, so hopefully we can bump the fake museum out of the top 5 altogether.
Whoa. I’m going...suggest that no one butfundies knows about
